About the project: Storyline: "Things Like These", a drama series (5 x 12 mins), set in the suburbs of Bedford, Nova Scotia, chronicles the lives of the dysfunctional James family and their daily struggles two years after the immense tragedy of losing their father serving overseas has left them stuck in a kind of limbo, unable to fully move forward with their lives or the grieving process. Rate: Union and Non-Union. This is an ACTRA Modified AIP contract for Bell Fibe TV1 series, performer rates: Principal $300.00 min 9 Hr. call/10-12 Hr. Paid at 150% of the hourly rate. Actor $200.00 min 9 Hr. call/10-12 Hr. Paid at 150% of the hourly rate. Additional information: Location: HRM, NS. Shooting Dates: Between Thursday, January 8th and Sunday, January 18th, 2026 (7-day shoot). Must be able to work as a local. (PRINCIPAL) Baker is in his final year of high school, and he carries around more weight and anxiety than many of his peers. Baker is the family member who has come to terms with his grief and is trying to move on, even though the women in his life are still stuck in it. Though he's planning on joining the military the following year, a kind of homage to his deceased father.
(PRINCIPAL) Nolan is the eldest sibling in the James Family. She still lives in the Baker family home and has not left the house in a year, and somehow, despite being a shadow of her former self, she still sits at the center of the James family, a kind of black hole that pulls everything in with no hope of escape. Her heartache and hopelessness have taken up residence in the James household as well, and her inability to move on from that past event is a constant kind of elephant in the room.
(PRINCIPAL) Stitch is the family member who knows exactly which buttons to push to get a reaction. Dealing with more than just teen angst. She is stuck in a state of anger in her grief, and with Nolan's fall from grace and living in a home where they do not ever talk about the difficult things or the things hidden just out of sight, means that Stitch has no outlet outside of her outbursts, and is often self-sabotaging.
PRINCIPAL. Baker's best friend - Gracen is Charming and an athlete. He is also in the Navy Cadets with Gracen.
(PRINCIPAL) Younger, wealthy, Widowed sister to Veruca and Aunt to the Baker Kids. The way she copes with her grief by appearing so poised and put together, and always the bossy one, even though Veruca is the eldest, feels the need to take control of every situation and be the one in charge, and act like the older sister.
(PRINCIPAL) A quirky theatre kid, and Stitch's new boyfriend.
