Benjamin has convinced himself that there are no gentlemen left in the modern world, so he excuses himself to behave like an animal. Coming from old money, he has never worked a day in his life, which makes even the most elegant affairs feel trivial to him. Instead, he spends his time playing with people, manipulating their minds and pushing them to the edge. It’s a sport he has become quite good at.
Leontine is misunderstood, a dangerously alluring succubus who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Lately, however, what she wants is love, a family, and a baby. She has wasted her best years waiting for Benjamin to leave his wife, and this voyage is his last chance to make a commitment to her, or she is gone for good.
Bess has spent her whole life with a deep sadness in her heart. Though she has found the kind of love people cross oceans for, she has always felt like something dark is waiting for her. Her prophetic dreams tell her the end is near, and maybe she is right. She does not want to be a burden on Hudson, but she needs his emotional reassurance, so she shares her sadness with him.
Hudson has a heart of gold, a true gentleman. His love for Bess is unwavering, despite her constant sorrows. A mathematician by trade, his hard work has opened new doors for him and his family, including the door to the first-class cabin. He wants nothing more than to see Bess happy.
Ann is no ordinary woman, especially for her time. Though plagued by limerence, she has never found love. She travels everywhere with her small dog, Gigi, whom she tries her best to conceal in her floral bag. She has always dreamed of singing in the grand hall.
