Timothy is a controlling and temperamental man whose charm turns to cruelty, which is physical abuse. Beneath his calm exterior lies deep anger and insecurity (because of his childhood abuse) he takes out through physical and emotional abuse towards his girlfriend Sheila.
Sheila is caring and a hopeful woman trapped in a toxic relationship with Timothy. Despite her fear and pain, she struggles between love and the courage to break free from his abuse verbally and physically. They have a daughter (Destiny) who is bi-racial and their Destiny is confused about her identity as well as the abuse that she suspects her father is doing to her mother, but her mother tries to hide it.
