About the project: Louie is a tired and nerdy fast food worker, who is on his way to his first blind date with the mysterious, Hope. Trouble seems to follow Louie, as he bumbles his way to meet Hope. Rate: Non-Union. $50-$100/per day + meal on set (pay varied based on screentime). Additional information: Shoot/Performance Date(s) January 28 - February 13 (4 days TBD in this period). Part Mr. Magoo and part Buster Keaton, Louie is the silent protagonist who keeps falling into tricky and strange situations. Louie never speaks, instead all of the performance will be based on reactions and physicality. While he presents himself to be nerdy, portraying Louie will require some athleticism to help sell the timing of the comedy.
Hope is the ying to Louie's yang, as one can't exist without the other. Primarily, Hope is all about the comedic timing, as she delivers the final joke of the film. A love of comedy is key to the portrayal of Hope.
The Cab Driver is Louie's unintended tour guide of Louie's night out. Formerly from Czechoslovakia, the failed insurrectionist has found a new career in being a cab driver for the city. Dismissive and talkative, the Cab Driver never lets Louie get a word in.
The last obstacle in Louie's path to Hope, Swindling Steve sells Louie his bike, after raising the price based on Louie's wallet. Sitting on the sidewalk, Swindling Steve has seen better days. Most of his belongings are within his backpack or in his pockets. Willing to get what can, Louie is the perfect target for one of Swindling Steve's 'negotiations'.
Dolores causes Louie to lose his passenger spot in a cab, after some guilt tripping about how dangerous the area is for kind, old ladies. To help add to the 'vintage' feel of the movie, Dolores has a charm and sense about her that adds to overall film.
