About the project: SYNOPSIS: “What do you do when you’re not sure?” So asks Father Flynn, the progressive and beloved priest at the St. Nicholas Church School in the Bronx. It’s 1964, and things are changing, to the chagrin of rigid principal Sister Aloysius. When an unconscionable accusation is leveled against the Father, Sister Aloysius realizes that the only way to get justice is to create it herself. In stunning prose, John Patrick Shanley delves into the murky shadows of moral certainty, his characters always balancing on the thin line between truth and consequences. Additional info: The director is seeking 4 players to fill the following roles (note that age indications are for character portrayal notes only – actors outside the noted age ranges can still be considered. Auditions will consist of prepared monologues. Please prepare a 1-2 minute memorized monologue from a dramatic source. Actors will sign up for a 15-minute time slot between 6 and 10 pm. CALLBACKS on Saturday will consist of readings from the script. Actors will receive the script readings to prepare when notified of a callback. The timeframe is 2 pm – 6 pm. Please note the rehearsal schedule for this show. Actors with any conflicts during tech week will not be considered. Please bring known conflicts to auditions. The show will run January 25-28, 2024.
