Looking to cast performers for the "The Lady Was a Gentleman" show. Please see more details below. About the project: St. Louis, MO. 1858. Charlotte Cushman’s opening night as Romeo, one of her most famous male roles, leads to a case of the jitters, and encounters with an amorous young female fan and a frontierswoman and her mail-order bride. Charlotte’s hectic life on and offstage is held together by her trusted assistant Sallie Mercer, a free and educated black woman during the time of enslavement in the U.S. Rate: $150. Additional info: -Please prepare a comedic monologue of your choice, under 2 mins. Contemporary and Classical accepted. Don’t forget to slate, please! -BIPOC artists and artists of under-represented genders are STRONGLY encouraged to audition and will be thoughtfully considered. -COVID-19 Policy – All artists be vaccinated against Covid-19 and willing to take tests at prescribed intervals to ensure safety. No exceptions. -Show Dates – May 5-21 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2pm. -One Thursday Industry Performance on 5/18 at 8 pm.
