ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Searching for East-Asian actors for “Forgotten Tongue”, a 1-minute film exploring immigrant experiences. Please, see more details below. About the project: Synopsis: Anne, an Asian-Canadian immigrant teen returns to her home country for the first time. Having lost her culture and mother tongue, she experiences a range of guilt and despair as she has to say goodbye to her dying grandmother while being confronted by her family. Rate: No monetary compensation. Demo footage, IMDB credits and meals provided on set. Experience is not required, but a plus. Additional information: Shooting Date: Feb. 18th or Feb. 25th, 2023. All actors must be able to speak either Korean, Mandarin or Cantonese. When applying, please submit your name, age, headshot, and demo (if you have one).

Anne’s mother. She is the progressive of the family, and while she cares for her culture, she doesn’t feel that Anne should be shamed for having forgotten it after moving away at such a young age. She is vocal about her stance and is protective of Anne.

GRANDMOTHERFemale60-70 y.o.Asian

Anne’s grandmother. She is a bright, upbeat individual who smiles even at the most difficult times. She raised Anne as a child and doesn’t judge Anne for how she has changed.

AUNT/UNCLEBoth genders30-60 y.o.Asian

Anne’s conservative distant family members. They disapprove of Anne and her mother’s decision to leave the country, and even more so Anne’s loss of her culture and mother tongue. They aren’t afraid to berate her for it.
