About the project: The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," My Favorite Things," Do Re Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title number. THE SOUND OF MUSIC won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta von Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as a governess to the seven children of the imperious Caption von Trapp, bringing music and job to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. Rate: All positions within the company are unpaid, unless otherwise specified. Additional info: WHAT TO PREPARE: Adults: Please prepare 16 bars of a Musical Theatre song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music. No accompaniment tracks, please! Sides will be provided for readings. Everyone: Please be prepared to dance. You will be given an opportunity to change into comfortable clothing after your vocal audition. No reservations are needed - arrive anytime between 7:00 and 9:00. This is a non-profit, non-Equity, volunteer-based theater company. Charming and vital; a man of sophistication who enjoys the good life; true and loyal friend to the von Trapp family. Vocal range top: F4 Vocal range bottom: D3
A baroness of taste and elegance, sophisticated, dignified and mature. Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: D4
Motherly, understanding, strong and authoritative, but kind. Vocal range top: G#5/Ab5 Vocal range bottom: B3
Mistress of Novices, prudish, straight laced with a quick tongue. She is less tolerant than the other nuns. Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: C4

The von Trapp butler, rather formal but not without spirit. He is very German and loyal to the Fascist cause.
The housekeeper, stoic, very little personality. She does her job efficiently, but without affection. Strong and somewhat dominating.
Stern and unsmiling, a typical Nazi official whose primary concern is to see that everyone toes the line.
Suitor to Liesl, telegram delivery boy, later Nazi sold. A very pleasant young man, somewhat aggressive but in a gentle way. To portray age: 17 Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: C4
(B3-E5, to portray age 16) The oldest child, blossoming into a young lady with an interest in boys. She has a maternal edge to her and cares very deeply for younger siblings. The von Trapp Children.
