Singers Sought for The "Little Shop of Horrors" Show

About the project: The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out-of-this-world origins and intent toward global domination! Additional info: The company would specifically love to invite BIPOC actors to participate in auditions. The music portion of the auditions will be individual time slots from 7-8:30 pm. The movement calls will be from 8:30-10. Everyone will be called at 8:30 for the movement call. You will be given a place to submit your resume and headshot. Please prepare 2 CONTRASTING songs in the style of the show (16-32 bars each). Please do not use a song from the show. Bring your own accompaniment track on your device, the company will provide a Bluetooth speaker, apple dongle, or aux cable for you to connect to. The first part of the audition will consist of the vocal audition at your chosen time slot. For the second half, please be prepared to move. You will be doing approximately 3 counts of 8 of basic movement. Rehearsal Dates: Rehearsals will begin Sunday, 3/5. Rehearsals will be Su/M/We/Th from 7-10 pm. Tech Rehearsals will be the week prior to opening. No conflicts are accepted during Tech Week or Performances. If you are interested, please apply.

Male Presenting. An insecure, florist's clerk who is often taken advantage of. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills. He loves Audrey dearly. There will be moments of staged intimacy between Seymour and Audrey (hand-holding, a kiss, and a hug) and between Mushnik and Seymour (a hug). Female Presenting. A florist’s clerk. She works with Seymour (who secretly loves her). She doesn’t think very highly of herself and is in an abusive relationship. She is beautiful both inside and out. There will be moments of staged intimacy between Seymour and Audrey (hand-holding, a kiss, and a hug). Male Presenting. The quirkiest dentist you’ll ever find. He is an abusive boyfriend who thrives off of others’ pain. Egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour. There will be moments of staged violence between Audrey and Orin and between Orin and Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon. (Audrey II) Puppeteer - An anthropomorphic cross between a giant Venus flytrap and an avocado. It has a huge, nasty-looking pod which gains a shark-like aspect when open and snapping at food. The creature is played by a series of four puppets, increasing in size, manipulated by one or two nonspeaking Puppeteers hidden invisibly inside. Requires someone with physical acting skills to portray character and emotion purely through movement, and stamina to operate the large, heavy puppet.
An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: G2
