Seeking Performers for The "For King. For Country" Play

Hartford, CT, United States
ID: 216674Exp: 2/10/2023
Description:

The company is holding auditions for the "For King. For Country" show. See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Set in The Wilton Parish in the Spring of 1777, following the British retreat after their invasion of Danbury. Tryon’s Raid cleft an irrevocable wound in the local townsfolk with wanton destruction left in its wake. All of this spills over onto the already volatile populace divided in loyalty in a recipe for disaster. With homes aflame, and hair-trigger tempers rising in a fever pitch to match; these neighbors once united in good company now murmur scathing condemnation threatening to fracture the small community down the center. With some joining The Prince of Wales Regiment and others taking up the cause of patriot revolutionaries, every dawn threatens a match to the powder keg in what seems like an inevitable conflict. There are rumors that local loyalists have gotten possession of a particular item: the head of the statue of King George III. The notorious monument was torn down by the Sons of Liberty less than one year ago. The head has been missing ever since, with the statue’s destruction an espirt de corps for the revolutionary cause. Reclaiming the head could serve as a strong symbol able to boost the morale of the Loyalist’s side. But are the whispers of its appearance in Wilton just rumors? And what is either side willing to do to collect this prize? Rate: Paid. Additional info: This audition will be in two parts. Please prepare a one to two-minute-long dramatic monologue to be performed. For the second part, be prepared for a short round of improv performances with the casting director. Historical accuracy is not a requirement at the time of auditions. Rehearsals will be held on Saturday from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Sea Tea Improv rehearsal studios in Hartford, CT. This show will require a commitment on all evenings of the dress rehearsal and the show dates: April 7, 14, 15, 21, and 22 of 2023 in Wilton, Connecticut. If interested, please apply.
