About the project: The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. Rate: This is a non-paid performing opportunity. Additional info: Callbacks: Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 7 p.m. PRODUCTION DATES: June 2nd – 24th, 2023 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Sundays at 2 p.m. Tech Week: Sunday May 28th - Thursday June 1st, 2023 Performers and certain offstage production volunteers must be available for all tech week rehearsals and all performances. PLEASE LIST ALL POTENTIAL DATE SCHEDULE CONFLICTS. Casting and staffing decisions and rehearsal schedules are based in part on this information. Rehearsals: There will be up to 30 rehearsals for this production, plus tech week and performances. The exact rehearsal schedule is to be determined, but rehearsals are usually 2-3 weekday nights per week, from approximately 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. There is the possibility of some Sunday evening rehearsals and some weekend daytime rehearsals. The rehearsal schedule intensifies as opening night draws closer. Tech week rehearsals can run later into the evening. No experience is necessary. All roles are open. Headshots and resumes are encouraged but not required. Note: ages for ALL roles are "can portray" ages - your real age does not have to be an exact match! PERFORMERS - WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare 32 measures of a musical theatre song that is NOT from The Sound of Music. This is required for all roles. Please be prepared with sheet music in the correct key - an accompanist will be provided. No backing tracks. There will be a dance call with a routine to be learned. Please dress in clothing you can move in. Readings from the script for specific roles will be conducted at callbacks only. All are welcome and encouraged to audition, regardless of prior experience, ethnicity, disability or identity. When applying, please include your information.

Soprano. Postulant at Nonnberg Abbey, young, free spirited, warm, gentle and kind with much determination.
Baritone. Retired Austrian naval captain. Polished, yet very military in the way he runs his life to repress his sadness over the death of his wife. Underneath he is warm, understanding and determined.
Tenor/baritone, 30+. Charming and vital, a man of sophistication who enjoys the good life, a true and loyal friend to the von Trapp family.
Mezzo soprano. A baroness of taste and elegance sophisticated, dignified and mature.
Soprano with a wide vocal range, 40+. Motherly, understanding, strong and authoritative, but kind.
Alto 30+. Mistress of Novices, prudish, straight laced with a quick tongue, she is less tolerant than other nuns.
Mezzo, 30+. Mistress of Postulants, very kind, understanding and concerned.
Soprano, 20+. Neither demanding nor critical, sticks with the rules.
Non singing role, but the ability to carry a tune would be helpful. 30+. The von Trapp family butler, rather formal but not without spirit, he is very German and loyal to the fascist cause.
Non-singing, but carrying a tune a plus, 30+. The housekeeper, stoic, very little personality, she does her job efficiently but without affection.
Non-singing, but carrying a tune a plus, 40+. Stern and unsmiling, a typical Nazi official whose primary concern is to see that everyone toes the line.

Low tenor, to portray 17. Suitor to Liesl, telegram delivery boy, later Nazi soldier. A very pleasant young man somewhat aggressive but in a gentle way.
Mezzo, to portray 16, oldest child, blossoming into a young lady with an interest in boys. She has a maternal edge to her and cares very deeply for her younger siblings.
