About the project: 12 Angry Jurors is a courtroom drama based in New York City that gives the audience an inside look at how jury deliberations take place during a murder trial. 12 Angry Men was initially broadcast as a television play in 1954 written by Reginald Rose and proved so popular that it was adapted for the stage. The acclaimed Hollywood director Sidney Lumet later directed a screen adaptation of 12 Angry Men starring Henry Fonda in 1957. With a cast of thirteen characters and set entirely inside a jury room, 12 Angry Jurors tells the story of a jury deliberating a murder trial during a hot New York afternoon. It explores the motivations and prejudices of individual jury members and how they eventually argue their way to a unanimous decision. At stake is the life of a 19-year-old young man accused of killing his father. A wrong decision could lead to an innocent man being put to death, or a murderer walking free. Additional info: To audition, no preparation is necessary. Auditions will use a cold-read format. Those auditioning will be asked to read sides and may read for multiple characters. Roles are available for adults of all ethnicities, ages, and genders. The Director will decide which characters will be portrayed by men and which by women, after the audition. REHEARSAL DATES: March 12th - June 1st. PERFORMANCE DATES: June 2nd - June 18th. Performances: Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 pm. Sunday Matinees at 2:00 pm.
