"Freaky Friday" Musical Needs Singer/Dancer/Actors
Auditions for "Freaky Friday" show. Casting actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again before mom’s big wedding. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a hilarious, contemporary update on an American classic in which a mother and daughter really see what it is to be a family and experience each other’s lives first-hand, if only for a day. “Delightfully spunky” with “timeless appeal” (Variety), Freaky Friday features a new book by Bridget Carpenter (Parenthood) and an original pop/rock score by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal). This dynamic story puts a fresh new spin on a “polished, peppy, modern fairy tale” (The Washington Post). Additional info: Directors undertake non-traditional casting within the parameters of the licensing contract. Please prepare an audition song (16 measures) and bring sheet music for the pianist to accompany you. Please also plan for a dance audition if you are auditioning for a role that requires dance (generally the adult roles do not require dancing). Rehearsals are anticipated to begin on June 12 and typically take place on Sundays from 2-5 pm and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7-10 pm. Performances are set for August 11, 12, 18, 19 at 7:30 pm and August 13, 20 at 2:30 pm. A special sensory friendly and sign language interpreted performance will also take place on Thursday, August 17. When applying, please include resume & other information.
