Casting Call for "The Song of Samuel" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. The Project "The Song of Samuel" (working title) is looking for Bipoc performers. Please, see the details below. Rate: These are paid, non-union positions. There is limited public transportation available. Personal means of transportation is an asset, but the option of car-pooling or ride sharing may be possible, dependent on performer’s point of origin. Additional information: Rehearsals during the day, February 6 – February 10 inclusive. Public performances on February 10 at 7:30 pm and February 11 at 2 pm. Location: Port Perry, Ontario. Seeking 2 performers with strong vocal/singing skills for an upcoming workshop of a new play in development, based on the life of Port Perry’s first Black resident. This current workshop will focus on the development and arrangement of the music used in the play, drawn from spirituals and slave songs and will culminate in two public readings/presentations at the end of the week. In the play, the songs and music are performed by a small ensemble of “Ancestors”. There is the potential for the development of stylized staging and movement. Submissions will be accepted until the roles are filled, up to January 31st, 2023. Experience and strong skills in harmony is preferred. Previous dance or movement experience is also an asset. When applying, please submit a resume, head shot and audio/video clip demonstrating their vocal range.
