"The Addams Family" Summer Musical Looking for Singers
The company is holding auditions for summer musical, "The Addams Family" and looking for singers. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Rate: Unpaid. About the project: Based on the iconic Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams in his single-panel cartoons, this new musical comedy features an original story. Gomez, Morticia, and the rest of the Addams clan prepare to meet Wednesday’s new boyfriend. And being a seemingly normal young man, of course the “meet-the-parents” ritual goes terribly awry… Change is scary and the the unknown can be frightening, but the Addams would have us believe that through the darkness, perhaps there is light. Additional info: Performances are July 21 - 23 and July 28 - 30, 2023. - Please prepare 32 bars (approximately one minute) of a musical theatre song. SFA will provide a speaker with an aux cord, please bring your own karaoke track (no a cappella music). Callbacks will be by invitation only on Saturday, April 1 (9:00 am-1:00 pm & 2:00 pm-6:00 pm). The Addams Family patriarch. The only thing stronger than Gomez’s taste for the darkness is his love for his family. He is flamboyant and confident. His love for Morticia is as deep and passionate as the day they first met many years ago.This role will include featured dancing. (Baritone, Bb2-G4)
The Addams Family matriarch. Like Gomez she shares a passion for the macabre side of life and her dry wit is complementary with his performative stage presence. She is strong, principled, and glamorous but at times withholding. This role will include featured dancing. (Mezzo, G3- Bb5)
The eldest Addams child, she is college-aged. She has embraced the dark and twisted Addams lifestyle her whole life but is finding herself being pulled in a new, more mainstream way of life with her newfound love for Lucas. She is stubborn but insightful. (Soprano/Mezzo, A3-E5)
Gomez’s brother. He serves as musical’s de facto narrator and rallies the Addams Ancestors to assist in supporting Wednesday and Lucas’ relationship. He is secretly in love with the moon and ends up teaching the Addams and Beineke families what pure love is all about. (Tenor, C3-C5)
The love interest of Wednesday and son of Mal and Alice. Lucas struggles with embracing the impulsivity and craziness the Addams clan brings out in him, but he is steadfast in his love for Wednesday and seeks to reconcile his cognitive dissonance. (Tenor, C3-C5)
Lucas’ father and Alice’s husband. An Ohioan and self-described “real American,” he is concerned with his son being too soft and getting involved with the Addams’ “sophisticated New York lifestyles.” He views his rigidness and normalness as strengths. (Baritone/Tenor, C3-A4)
Lucas’ mother and Mal’s wife. She acts as a foil to Mal’s parental coldness by being more emotionally supportive and present for Lucas and his newfound relationship. She has had to suppress her needs/desires in her marriage, but ends up going through a dramatic transformation at the Addams’ house. (Soprano, Ab3-G#5)
“The very soul and spirit” of the Addams Family at the ripe age of 102. She is kooky, curt, and abrupt, but is also able to wax rhapsodic and occasionally provide wise insights. Comedic timing is essential. (Soprano, G4-F5)
The Addams Family butler. Despite being a man of few words, he is essential to the Addams clan and commands a powerful stage presence. (Bass, Eb2-E4)
ADDAMS ANCESTORS are summoned from the The Addams Family Crypt. These unholy spirits range from the recently-departed to the very first, stone-age Addams. “Living or dead, family is still family.” These actors will be featured both singing and dancing throughout the show.
