Disabled & LGBTQ2S+ actors Needed for "Bruised Fruit" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Would you like to perform in a play that represents queer and disabled people? Are you disabled and a part of the LGBTQ2S+ community? "Bruised Fruit" play is looking for performers. . More details are below. About the project: "Bruised Fruit" written by Sarah Shepherd, is a play that follows four young adults and their various journeys dealing with chronic illness, injury, sexuality, and relationships, who all bond over their experiences at their physiotherapy appointments. Additional information: The disabilities in the characters’ description are not set in stone and can change according to the disability the actor has. The rehearsals will take place over the course of March 2023 to May 2023 and will be performed in late May or early June 2023, all located in Victoria. Directors encourage actors of all disabilities to audition, for this production was written to support the voices of disabled members of the LGBTQ2S+ community and to shine a light on their perspectives. When applying, please submit your resume and head shot. If you do not have a head shot, a well lit photo of your face from the shoulders up will suffice as well. If you do not have a resume, please simply send an email stating that you would like to audition.

Sexuality: Bisexual. She has a joint pain condition with no cure and goes to physio to manage her pain. She also has a crush on Mike and Audrey’s physiotherapist, which the others relentlessly mock her for.
Sexuality: Heterosexual. The token straight friend and ‘honorary gay’, who sometimes pushes boundaries in more ways than one. A reckless daredevil who pushes himself before he’s fully recovered, and finds himself perpetually recovering from whiplash and other injuries.
Gender: Two Spirit. Sexuality: Unlabeled. Has chronic back pain which they are hoping to manage with physiotherapy, but they find they may be getting pushed into a surgery by their doctor. They are also a painter with a brittle sense of humor. They no longer speak to some of their family. The other kids at physiotherapy, especially Hazel, serve as a chosen family.
Sexuality: Questioning. Broke her leg playing lacrosse. She’s very shy, and not good at making friends, but the other kids at physiotherapy are quick to induct her into their circle.
