Singers Sought for "Nunsense" Musical Show
The company is conducting auditions for the "Nunsense" musical and seeking singers to participate. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Winner of four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical, Nunsense is an over-the-top, utterly hilarious international phenomenon starring five nuns who decide to hold a fundraiser after their cook, Sister Julia (Child of God), inadvertently poisons 52 sisters. With the remaining sisters in need of funds for the burial, the intrepid five take over the school gymnasium to hold a variety show to help their dearly departed find a final resting spot. Additional info: Actors will be asked to learn their scripts as soon as possible upon casting. Please prepare two contrasting 16/32 bar pieces. Cold read and movement call will be at callbacks. Performances: May 5th - 21st. Rehearsals: First read-through (Virtual) Wednesday, February 8th at 7 PM. Rehearsals will generally be Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with a periodic Thursday or Saturday rehearsal. Sundays will be longer rehearsal days and are required.

A feisty, Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlight. Moves well and has excellent comic timing. Former circus performer, head of the order. Range: B3-F5.
Mistress of novices: the second-in-command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior. She exudes maternal wisdom to novices, but also likes to let loose. Moves well. Range: G3-F5.
A streetwise, tough character from Brooklyn, a constant source of irritation for the Mother Superior. She speaks with a Brooklyn accent and constantly displays her lack of refinement. movement ability including tap. Range: G3-D5.
The novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina. Moves well. Pointe work a plus. Some tap ability. Good singer. Range: G#3-G5.
This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head; she is very sweet. She is spacey and incoherent, often slipping into displays inappropriate for a nun. Sings in classical and country styles. Puppetry and ventriloquism a plus; as well as some tap ability. Range: Db4-C6.
There may be an opportunity for some ensemble members.
