Seeking Performers for "Disability Tour Bus" Comedic Show
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The production of "Disability Tour Bus" a new roving, site-specific production is looking for performers. Please, see the details below. Additional information: Rehearsals will be part-time (~4.5 hours/day) and divided into two phases: April 17-May 5 and June19-July 5, with a six-week hiatus between those dates. Performances: July 6 – 19, 2023. Auditions will continue until roles are cast. AUDITION LOCATION (or by Zoom) Vancouver, BC. SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Rolling to mid-February 2023. Rate: This is a paid gig / professional production. This is not an Equity/ACTRA production. NOTE: Support will be provided to out-of-town artists to defray costs. Shiloh is a progressive-minded, energetic young woman eager to prove herself on her first day on the job leading tours. Sensitive to anyone thinking she may be the diversity-hire, she’s done her homework and is prepared to excel, but runs into conflict with a senior colleague’s non-woke, traditionalist perspectives. Shiloh is a wheelchair user; the role is intended for an actor who uses a wheelchair.
Hugh is a well-practiced tour guide who prides himself at giving his patrons a good time and spreading his love of our Funcouver. He’s an old school guy and a teller of bad jokes. The role calls for a confident live performer with proven comic chops, capable of leading an ensemble in a roving, site specific show. Within the scripted play will be opportunity for improvised interplay with the audience.
One actor will play three roles: 1) An entitled jerk 2) A drunk American tourist 3) A man in love. These characters meet up with the tour at various locations. The role is intended for an able-bodied actor.
