Synopsis: Vince Lombardi is synonymous with football – the play Lombardi is about the man who never gave up on his dream. It is about the fire, passion and demands required behind the winning and success of this complicated man. The play takes place mostly in November 1965 with flashbacks to ‘58, ‘59, and ‘64. During the 1965 NFL season, Look Magazine reporter, Michael McCormick profiles the legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi to find out what makes him win. Lombardi welcomes McCormick in hopes of improving his image and even invites Michael to stay with the Lombardi’s. As McCormack interviews Lombardi and the team, he faces terse answers from the head coach and little response from players Robinson and Taylor at first before he turns to Marie Lombardi to glean insight. Lombardi introduces Michael to Paul Hornung to learn how the Packers work – and win. Lombardi and McCormick have a heated exchange over the finished article where Lombardi issues him the challenge, “may the best man win.” Additional info: Note: The script contains some adult language.
