About the project: The breathtaking corpse of an unidentified drowning victim is exploited after a local toymaker begins to sell death masks of the young girl to the townspeople - people who hang up this drowned girl's face as decoration on their walls. Rate: Unpaid; Meals and Credit Provided. Additional info: Filming Location: Austin, TX. Shoot Dates: October 28-31, 2022. Lead. The detective who is enlisted with uncovering the identity of the drowned girl. The only individual who advocates for the fact that the whole situation is dehumanising - a savior who meets a tragic end.
(Layla) - Lead. An unidentified drowning victim who has her agency taken away posthumously. Her beauty creates this illusion that she is this ethereal being that the people deserve to glare at and hang up on their walls.
Supporting The lead cause of such severe exploitation. Although his actions are the main catalyst, the success of his shop and his own entitlement hints at the fact that the masses are just as much to blame for being obsessed with beauty to the extent that they're willing to exploit a young innocent victim of a tragedy.
Supporting. Another detective on the case - shows no regard towards the dead and operates as Detective Xalvador’s scummy foil.
Supporting. A young girl whose purchase of the death mask catalyzes the story.
