Latine. Female presenting. Must sing. A good sense of rhythm and percussion knowledge are helpful. A vivacious and headstrong woman. She is married to Juan and desperately wants a child. The more obsolete the potential of a child is, the more manic passionate about wanting one Yerma becomes. As she begins to be consumed by the emptiness of her life, she is confronted by the women around her as they provide alternate options to having a child herself.
Latine. Male presenting. Yerma’s husband. Ability to sing is helpful, but not required. He is a hardworking, honest man. Dry, traditional and practical. He struggles to understand Yerma’s desperation. Through his eyes he provides everything for her and yet is still not enough. The more rash Yerma becomes, the more he withdraws and resents that he is unable to make her happy.

He sees things the same way as Yerma, filtering through the heart not the head. Everyone loves him as he is open, generous and intuitive.
