Chinese, MUST SPEAK CANTONESE. Able and opinionated, Soo is the matriarch of the family, although she’s not your typical “Chinese” mom. Soo brings an unexpected guest to the dinner, causing chaos and a riff with her youngest daughter, Charlie. LEAD.
Chinese, MUST SPEAK CANTONESE. Exuding the glow of new motherhood, Anna is Soo’s oldest daughter and Charlie’s sister. Having to care for the baby, all while juggling conversations between her husband Brian and her In-Laws, and keeping the peace between her mom and sister, Anna just wants to get through the family dinner drama free. LEAD.
Asian. Charming and likeable, Mike is Charlie’s long-term boyfriend. He gets along with the family well, is loyal and career driven. Mike is there to support Charlie when things at the dinner get out of hand. SUPPORTING LEAD.
Any Ethnicity. Brian is Anna’s husband and new dad who is in way over his head. Slightly awkward and basic, Brian just wants to make sure his parents don’t embarrass themselves at the dinner. SUPPORTING LEAD.
Chinese, MUST SPEAK CANTONESE. These Aunties and Uncles banter and converse with Charlie, Soo, and the family. Improv / Comedic timing a plus.
