About the project: Show Synopsis: A beautifully done adaptation of the original Dickens work, you will be taken on the Christmas Carol Journey by Charles Dickens himself as he narrates this classic tale of holiday spirit. Join us for one of the most enduring Christmas stories ever told and kick off your holiday season with the wonderful traditional tale. Rate: Unpaid. Additional info: Please note: All age and gender descriptions below indicate stage age and gender and do not need to align with the actor’s actual age or gender, just with how they can present on stage. Face masks are not required but are strongly recommended for all actors and volunteers. All auditioners, regardless of age, must show proof of vaccination upon being cast in a production at DCP Theatre. Actors will not be required to wear masks during performances while on stage. Auditions for all DCP productions are open to the community. We welcome all talents onstage and behind the scenes. No appointments are needed. Audition material will be cold readings from the script provided at each audition. Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. Our narrator, 19th century writer. Based on the real public dramatized readings Dickens would make of his short stories in and around London throughout his career.
A miserly and mean old man who only cares about money. a "squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner!" “Hard and sharp as flint.” tight fisted, penny pincher' His appearance matches his character, with cold and pointy features. Later, we see Scrooge transformed as he is visited by three spirits. He is shown the error of his ways and is redeemed by his own willingness to change.

A nervous young man. Very poor, behind on mortgage payments.
An anxious and frail woman. Very poor. Pregnant. (Needs to be comfortable wearing pregnancy belly).
The ghost of Scrooge’s old partner in business. Frightfully serious. Desperate and weighed down by the weight of his own sins. Truly terrifying. (Will need to be comfortable with extensive makeup and costume pieces that may limit mobility).
An otherworldly spirit, ethereal, powerful, and scary. With candle-like brightness and energy, genderless in appearance.
This role will be fulfilled by several different people, let’s call them archetypes of people who celebrate Christmas in Dickens’s era. As such, actors of any age and any gender will be considered for scenes of this role. This spirit is loud and confident, warm and welcoming.
(Will need to be comfortable wearing a morph-suit type face covering and extended finger gloves) Ideally looking for someone tall. A phantom slow, grave, and silent. Deadly serious, chilling and ghastly.
Scrooge’s clerk. A very kind man with a large family to support. He is gentle and loving to his wife and children and respects Scrooge despite his cruelty.
A loving and warm woman, fiercely protective of her husband and children. She runs a small but tight ship in her home.
A ruddy, robust, energetic young man. Scrooge’s good spirited, optimistic, generous, Christmas-loving nephew.
A pretty, young woman, and good hostess. Opinionated about Scrooge. (Will need to be comfortable wearing a pregnancy belly)
Fred’s mischievous and funny friend.
A very loud party guest, bold and confident.
A strict and cruel teacher. A classic Dickensian villain.
Scrooge’s friend and fellow apprentice during his time working for Mr.Fezziwig. More outgoing than Scrooge.
This Scrooge is serious and hardworking, but not yet cold and unfeeling. He still has an air of fresh faced innocence.
Scrooge’s boss. A good hearted textile company man. Generous host of the annual town Christmas Eve party.
Mr. Fezziwig’s generous and kind wife.
Mr. Fezziwig’s three daughters, sweet and silly.
Cook for the Fezziwig household, happy to have an evening off to enjoy the party.
