"Lost in the Woods" Play In Need of Paid Performers

About the project: PROJECT SYNOPSIS: This is a one-week workshop of a play in development. "Lost in the Woods" is a play about two hikers who get lost on a day hike, and the mountain they get lost on. The play has three characters: the two humans, and the chorus – an ensemble of contemporary dancers who embody the mountain's forest environment that interacts with the human characters, both with their bodies and with their voices. The friction between the humans is the catalyst for what follows, as their emotions and actions affect their surroundings and are projected back to them in a series of dance segments that move the story along. Rate: Each actor will be paid a rate of $30/hour for 35 hours of studio work over five days in January. Additional information: AUDITION LOCATION online only. A bookish hiker who loves to learn and share knowledge about biology and the natural world. She holds herself (and everyone else) to a very high standard. A generous and caring friend, she tends to hide her soft side behind a self-deprecating and sardonic sense of humour. Contemporary dance/movement experience preferred.
An experienced hiker who lets her tendency to people-please overrule her own common sense and expertise. She’s full of wonder, and comes across as a bit naïve, but has a secret sharp edge. She’s willing to do just about anything for the people she loves. Contemporary dance/movement experience preferred.
