"Moon Over Buffalo" Play Needs Actors

Tampa, FL, United States
ID: 195654Exp: 10/16/2022
Description:

Auditions for play "Moon Over Buffalo". In search of actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: "Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel." Rate: This is a non-paid performing and volunteer opportunity. Additional info: All are welcome and encouraged to audition, regardless of prior experience, ethnicity, disability or identity. Please note: All actors auditioning MUST BE 18+ due to adult situations in the show and the requirement of stage kisses for most of the young roles. The roles of George, Charlotte, Rosalind, Paul, and Howard require stage kissing. Actors auditioning for these roles should be comfortable with this. What to prepare: auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No experience is necessary. Headshots and resumes are encouraged but not required. Rehearsals: There will be up to 20 rehearsals for this production, plus tech week and performances. The exact rehearsal schedule is to be determined, but rehearsals are usually 2-3 weekday nights per week, from approximately 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. There is the possibility of some Sunday evening rehearsals and some weekend daytime rehearsals. The rehearsal schedule intensifies as opening night draws closer. Tech week rehearsals can run later into the evening. Production dates: January 13th - 28th, 2023 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. Tech week: Sunday January 8th - Thu. January 12th Performers and certain offstage production volunteers must be available for all tech week rehearsals and all performances. When applying, please include your information.

George HayMale46-69 y.o.All ethnicities

A traveling actor who runs a repertory theater in Buffalo with his wife Charlotte. He is loud, proud, and quite over-dramatic at times. He has a strong slovenly quality to him and a loose moral compass. The actor playing George should be comfortable with physical comedy, including pratfalls, running, and some stage combat (fencing) that you will be safely taught.

Charlotte HayFemale46-69 y.o.All ethnicities

Runs the repertory theater with her husband George. She is as over dramatic as he is, if not more so. Full of life and eccentric to a fault, Charlotte is a vivacious and high-spirited woman whose ambitions strengthen her resolve. The actress playing Charlotte must be comfortable with some light movement and learning light stage combat (fencing) that will be safely taught to them. Also being able to do a faux-British accent is a plus.

Rosalind HayFemale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

George and Charlotte's daughter. Used to be an actress and a member of their acting troupe, but she decided she wanted a real career and left the company, determined to never act again, or be like her parents. Rosalind is the heart of the show, the audience has to love her.

PaulMale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

A member of the troupe and ex-fiancé of Rosalind. He still loves her and wants her back; but as an actor first and foremost could never leave his home. This role requires strong physical comedy.

HowardMale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

A TV weatherman and Rosalind's new fiance. He comes across as goofy, a little naive, nervous, and very excitable. Must be able to do strong physical comedy.

EthelFemale66-80 y.o.All ethnicities

(Late 60s+): Charlotte's mother. Grumpy, troublemaker, hard of hearing. She helps around the theater as best she can but is responsible for more than one misunderstanding. The strength in this role is down to a strong vocal performance and presence. It does not require heavy movement.

EileenFemale20-39 y.o.All ethnicities

An aspiring actress, eager to prove herself, but very emotional, rightly so. She has a crush on George and had a fling with him a few weeks back.

RichardMale40-69 y.o.All ethnicities

George and Charlotte's attorney. He is in love with Charlotte and constantly tries to get her to leave George. He's wealthy and used to getting what he wants. He is both amused and perplexed by the Hay family.
